My name is Jake and I am visual designer that lives and breathes strategy in all of my work. I am an Orlando-based graphic and web designer looking to break into the theme park industry. I’ve worn a lot of different hats in my design career so far and this diversity is what excites me about design and what motivates me to push myself every day.
I have been an avid theme park fan since I was a kid, one of my favorite memories being when Doc Brown let me drive the Delorean a couple years ago (pictured). But I knew I wanted to work in the theme park industry the first time I walked into Diagon Alley at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The thought and care that went in to designing every aspect of that land completely blew me away. From the product signage painted on the buildings to the HTML banner ads promoting the land, everything was cohesive and all worked toward the ultimate goal of transporting guests to the wizarding world. Thoughtful and strategic design like this inspires me to keep learning new skills and reminds me that all of my work must have a purpose.
Design needs to be fun, but it also needs to tell a story that is memorable to people. I have brought this mentality to every job listed below and it is what I strive for to this day.
When I’m not moving shapes around in Illustrator, you’ll find me at one of Universal’s theme parks, forever trying to max out my score on Men In Black: Alien Attack (I'm up to 890,000). Or you can find me online, endlessly speculating about what is coming to Halloween Horror Nights.
There’s a great big beautiful tomorrow, just a design away.
